Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – Voting has started smoothly at the Apostolic Revelation Society Polling Centre in the Ayawaso Central Constituency for the presidential and parliamentary elections.
The voting started at exactly 0705 hours.
The incumbent Member of Parliament, Mr Henry Quartey, is fighting for a renewal of his mandate against Mr AbdulRauf Tubazu of the National Democratic Congress and Mr Charles Kwame Adams, representing the National Democratic Party.
Madam Gifty Tudzi, the Presiding Officer, Apostolic Revelation Society Polling Station “A”, said the total registered voters for the centre was 600 and that all electoral materials were set and working.
Mr Lucas Anku, Presiding Officer, Apostolic Revelation Society Polling Centre “B”, said the Centre had 600 registered voters expected to cast their ballots.
He told the Ghana News Agency that proceedings were going on as planned.
“So far there are no challenges; we hope the exercise ends successfully,” he said.
Security personnel were in attendance to ensure peace and order.
Polling agents for the candidates were at the stations.
In an interview, some of the voters called for calm.
The Constituency has a total of 88,312 voters on the refister, with 191 polling stations.
Voting is expected to end at 1700 hours.
