Sunyani (Bono), Dec. 7, GNA – Some anxious electorate in the Sunyani East say they arrived at their various polling stations in the wee hours of Saturday to cast their ballot, as voting begins Saturday December 7.
During a round visit to some of the polling stations in the constituency around 0500 hours, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) noticed that many electorates had formed long queues at the polling centres.
At the Workers Canteen centre “1A” in Sunyani, more than 50 voters were already in queues patiently waiting for the Electoral Commission to prepare the centre for the polling to begin when the GNA got there.
Abdul Kareem, one of the electorates and first in the queue, said he got to the polling centre around 1215 hours.
Before voting started at exactly 0700 hours, there were also more than 40 voters at Nyamaa JHS “A1”, too.
Pastor Francis Amankwaa, a-72-year old voter, told the GNA that he arrived at the centre around 430 hours, saying voting remained a right and he would not allow anything to disenfranchise him.
Agents of the various political parties and security personnel were all around when voting started at the centre.
