Atortorkorpe-Ada, Dec. 6, GNA – Ms Sarah Dugbakie Pobi, Chief Executive, Ada East, in the Greater Accra Region, has lauded the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s government for transforming various sectors of the district within the eight years of governance.
She noted that sectors including education, health, roads and infrastructure, and economic empowerment were notably transformed in the district.
Ms Pobi, addressing a gathering at the District Assembly’s forecourt, disclosed that one notable area of progress was in infrastructure development, furthering that the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) was enhancing road networks across the district.
In the area of healthcare, the DCE disclosed that the existing health facilities had received upgrades, including the provision of essential medical facilities and personnel, stating that “the government’s focus on healthcare underscores its pledge to ensure that every citizen, regardless of location or status, has access to quality medical services.”
She revealed that the education sector has also seen remarkable advancements, saying, “Recognising that education is the foundation of development, there has been massive investment in the provision of dual desks to schools within the district. This created a more conducive learning environment for students. Moreover, interventions such as the transformative Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program have revolutionised access to education for all in Ghana.”
She mentioned that economic empowerment remained a central focus of development in Ada East, revealing that through various livelihood support programmes, the government had empowered small businesses and entrepreneurs to grow and expand, such as microcredit schemes and skills training programs to enable residents, especially women and youth to start or expand businesses, which contributed significantly to job creation and poverty reduction in the district.
In addition to these sectoral achievements, she noted that there has been a deliberate effort to promote inclusivity and support vulnerable groups, of which the government’s devotion to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) is evident in various programs aimed at improving their lives.
“Let me remind you that the progress we have achieved is not by accident—it is the result of deliberate policies and hard work. The investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic empowerment have laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth. Our agenda is clear: we are here to serve, develop, and empower. As we move forward, I want to assure you that the dedication of this government to the people of Ada East remains unwavering,” she stressed.
She emphasised the importance of peace and unity in the district and across the nation before, during, and after the elections, stressing that the strength of a community was in the ability of its members to come together, respect each other’s choices, and uphold the values of democracy.
She urged the electorates to avoid inflammatory actions that could lead to violence, stating that Ghana’s democracy has been a beacon of hope on the African continent, and it is the collective responsibility of electorates to protect and preserve it.
