SEWA Foundation Ghana calls for unity and responsibility of Ghanaians in Election 2024

Accra, Dec. 06, GNA – SEWA Foundation Ghana, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), has called on Ghanaians ahead of the Saturday December 7th polls, to maintain peace, unity and collective responsibility throughout the process, to safeguard the country’s stability and its future.

The call was made by Mr Jones Owusu Yeboah, the President of SEWA Foundation Ghana, in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency.

Mr Yeboah stressed that as voters prepared to head for the polls it was important that they exhibited conducts that embodied integrity and civility, embracing the process was an uncommon opportunity not only to choose leaders, but also to model respect and a collaborative spirit for the younger generation.

He said “demonstrating our ability to rise above challenges through dialogue, rather than discord, is paramount. It is essential that we show our children that the electoral process can reflect mutual respect and understanding, rather than of enmity and division.”

He therefore urged Ghanaians to reflect on the significant impact of their electoral choices not just for the present, but for generations to come.

Mr Yeboah noted that in the heat of political campaigns and spirited debates, it was all too easy to lose sight of what truly mattered, however, moving beyond political party lines and ideologies laid a shared commitment to the nation.

He emphasised a vital aspect of this election as unity, indicating that in a diverse nation where political affiliations often divided, Ghanaians must learn to set aside their differences and unite, ensuring that their love for Ghana superseded partisan divide, but becoming a rallying point for collaboration and constructive dialogue.

“Ghana is not just a geographic location; it is home-the heart of our hopes and dreams, the legacy we inherit and pass down and as such, our choices must foster hope, prosperity, and peace. The decisions made today will echo through time, shaping the environment and opportunities for our children and families,” he added.

He reminded the Ghanaian electorate that as they engaged in this critical democratic process, they must learn to “prioritise the well-being of our families, communities, and nation, ensuring that the legacy we leave behind is one of hope and resilience.”

Mr Yeboah reiterated the Foundation’s clarion call to all Ghanaians to embody the spirit of unity, demonstrating a commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Ghana by prioritising the well-being of their families, communities, and the nation, ensuring that the legacy they leave behind became one of hope and resilience.
