Accra, Dec. 6, GNA – The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) has urged all youth and graduate students to carefully consider the policies of Former President John Dramani Mahama when casting their votes in the December 7 election.
It said, “The National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) policies present the most substantial opportunity for addressing youth unemployment, ensuring affordable education, and creating a sustainable future for Ghanaian youth.”
The GRASAG gave the advice in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, after it had unveiled its Report on analysis of the manifestos of three major political parties – the NDC, New Patriotic Party (NPP), and the Movement for change.
“The Stress-Free Fees Policy further ensures that the financial barriers to higher education are minimized, offering graduate students and young people the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, growing economy,” it stated
The statement said the shift-based employment models under the 24-Hour Economy Policy were ideal for sectors seeking to optimize productivity while contributing to youth employment.
The GRASAG urged policymakers to prioritize infrastructure and regulatory adjustments to support the NDC’s 24-Hour Economy initiative.
The findings of the GRASAG Report indicated that NDC leads with the most comprehensive and innovative policies, particularly the 24-Hour Economy Policy, and that the initiative addresses both job creation and youth flexibility, providing immediate and scalable employment opportunities.
It said the NPP focused on continuity rather than transformative change, adding that, “While programmes like 1D1F and Free SHS have shown results, the lack of innovative job creation strategies reduces its appeal to the youth.”
The Report stated that the Movement for Change emphasizes entrepreneurship, appealing to niche groups but lacking mass employment solutions.
