NCCE engages political party youth activists at Gushegu on peaceful coexistence

Gushegu (N/R), Dec. 05, GNA – The Gushegu Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged political party youth activists in the area, as part of efforts to promote peaceful coexistence before the polls on Saturday. 

The event, which formed part of the Preventing and Containing Violent Extremism project, and funded by the European Union, also sought to create awareness on the role of the youth in promoting peace and inter-faith tolerance as well as identify and counter misinformation and disinformation. 

Participants included youth activists of the New Patriotic Party, National Democratic Congress, Convention People’s Party, People’s National Convention, the New Force, persons living with disabilities, religious leaders, security agencies, youth, and women groups. 

Mr Awal Abdul Mugis, the Gushegu Municipal Director of NCCE, speaking during the event at Gushegu, expressed the need for the participants to tolerate one another to promote national unity, stability, and development. 

He urged the youth and other stakeholders to support in maintaining and upholding the good image of the municipality. 

Abubakari Abdul Somed, the Gushegu Municipal Commander, Ghana Immigration Service, said violence was not in the interest of the state and urged members of the community to embrace peaceful coexistence. 

Daniel Ediemi, the Gushegu District Police Commander, also advised the youth to stay away from acts of violence and intimidation. 

He urged community members and traditional authorities to be proactive in resolving disputes.
