Nyagbo Sroe (V/R), Dec. 5, GNA – Madam Angela Alorwu-Tay, Member of Parliament for Afadzato South Constituency, has commissioned a water project for the Nyagbo Sroe community to expand access to good drinking water.
The final phase of the project saw the provision of additional polytanks that would ensure continuous supply of water.
Madam Alorwu-Tay commissioning the project at Nyagbo Sroe said the provision of social amenities for constituents was to satisfy their needs by putting in government resources that would alleviate the challenges.
She said the water project was to reduce the stress the people went through to access water at Nyagbo Sroe.
“The women of this place suffer to get water and based on that I took a decision to relieve them of the back pain, back issues the children face and the tumble to access water”.
She said the project with a contract sum of GH¢486,000 came under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) hence a measure to ensure its lifespan was putting together a committee.
Madam Alorwu-Tay said she would personally finance another project at the cost of GH¢300,000 aimed at extending water supply to Nyagbo Fiafe which is 2,300 kilometres away from Nyagbo Sroe.
The Member of Parliament also commissioned a10-seater water closet with a polytank and a mechanized water system for the boys’ dormitory of the Ve Senior High School under the DACF.
She said the projects especially the toilet and water would improve sanitation and put women at safe place when it comes to sanitation.
Madam Alorwu-Tay called on the communities to own the projects and took good care of them to ensure that generations to come benefitted from them.
She said she would continue to remember and support the constituents urging them to vote massively for Mr John Dramani Mahama and Mr Frank Afriyie as the next President and Member of Parliament for Afadzato South respectively.
Ekusi Dr Owusu IX, Chief of Nyagbo Sroe, said the water project showed the MP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the community which they remained grateful.
He said the water project would improve the sanitation, hygiene and overall quality of life of the community members.
Mr Theophilus Kwadzo Doh, Assemblyman for Nyagbo Sroe Electoral Area, expressed gratitude to the MP, Afadzato South DCE, Assembly members and the Nyagbo Sroe community for their support towards the success of the project.
He said the community had owned the project and would undertake routine maintenance through communal labour.
Togbe Klo V, Sub-Divisional Chief of Dzigbe-Klo Clan of Ve Koloenu said the community had not had a place of convenience for a very long time adding that they remained grateful for the contributions the MP had done.
He said the community which had a lot of challenges would continue to look up to the outgoing MP for assistance.
Madam Alorwu-Tay presented a pack of toilet rolls to the Ve Koloenu community.
