Koforidua, Dec. 3, GNA – The Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has held its 21st congregation ceremony to graduate 1,332 students with Higher National Diploma (HND) and 797 students with Bachelor of Technology (B’Tech) degree.
Speaking at the ceremony in Koforidua, Professor John Owusu, Vice-Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University, urged the graduates to embrace new challenges and meet them with strength and courage.
” Remember that the skills and knowledge you have acquired at KTU are valuable assets that will serve you well in all aspects of your life. Do not bury them and complain about lack of jobs,” he stated.
Professor Owusu said the University had made strides in students’ population and academic discipline, saying: The school was established in 1997 with 47 students and now has a population of about 9,949.
It started with two HND programmes and now offers 25 Bachelor of Technology degrees and 17 HND programmes.
He disclosed that the University had 14 master’s degree programmes at various stages of accreditation to be mounted in 2025 and they include MSc. Procurement and Supply Chain Management, MSc. Accounting and Finance, MSc. Environment, Health and Safety, MTech. Telecommunication and Network Engineering.
Regarding infrastructure, he said the government had allocated 950,000 Ghana cedis to the University for academic facilities, infrastructure, faculty development and research.
Also, the school has received engineering equipment through the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET).
He said the University clinic under construction would be completed next year to serve the University community and people in our catchment area.
” We commend Professor David Kofi Essumang, our immediate past Vice-Chancellor for initiating the clinic project,” he said.
Dr George Afrane, former Rector of the then Koforidua Polytechnic, and the Guest Speaker, advised the graduates to cultivate integrity because it was an important value that offered opportunity.
” Your reputation is everything especially in business,” he stressed.
