Hohoe (V/R), Dec. 2, GNA – The Special Voting centres in the Hohoe Constituency of the Volta Region have since the start of voting recorded no queues while security presence is heavily felt at the centres.
The Cocoa Board Office Centre A register has 414 expected voters, while the Centre B register has 413 expected voters.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Kofi Blagodzi, Volta North Regional Commander, Ghana Police Service who visited and cast his vote told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that adequate security measures were put in place to make the exercise a peaceful one.
He assured the electoral officers that patrol teams were available to respond to any security problems that might arise although not expected to record any such incidents.
Miss Isabella Doga, a first-time special voter told the GNA that the process had been smooth.
A teacher at Gbi Godenu said although the process was smooth as compared to 2020 exercise, “it is early days yet” and hoped the December 7 processes also went smooth.
Some security personnel also commended the smooth and peaceful nature of the exercise.
As at 1027 hours, 397 voters have successfully cast their votes.
Mr Newton Darkey, Constituency Chairman, National Democratic Congress (NDC) said the set up so far was good and security superb while hoping that the December 7 event took same form.
Mr Anthony Kondobrey, Hohoe Constituency Chairman, NPP said what he saw at the centres showed that there would be peaceful elections.
He said the Party was for peace and urged the NDC to also comply with electoral laws to ensure that the exercise was peaceful.
Voting which began at exactly 0700 hours is expected to close at 1700 hours.
