Chiefs call for peace in upcoming elections

Yendi (N/R), Nov. 30, GNA – Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon has called for peace before, during and after the upcoming 2024 general elections.

It is my prayer to see Ghana’s enviable peace intact after the elections, he said.

He was welcoming MoFCOM Scholars Alumni Association of Ghana (MoSAAG- former Students of China) to the Gbewa Palace in Yendi in the Northern Region.

The group donated 1,700 exercise books to some selected schools in Tamale and Yendi of the Northern Region.

The donation of branded exercise books formed part of MoSAAG peace tour sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Ghana.

The Ya-Na said he always offered prayers and sacrifices for peaceful elections in Ghana.

He urged the Association to continue to preach the peace message to foster unity among Ghanaians as “standing together would help Ghana grow as well as meet the objectives of the country.”

In Tamale, Naa Fuseini, Nyab Tamale Dakpema (Chief of Tamale) applauded the Association for returning to make impact on the society with the knowledge gained from studying in China.

Your giving back to the society would also inspire the young ones, he added.

Mr Sualah Zougrana, President of MoSAAG, making the donation commended the Chinese Embassy for supporting the Association in helping give back to communities.

He said the peace tour was to inform Ghanaians that elections were not about who one was and what one had, stating that “whoever comes to power, we are all Ghanaians.”

“Let us not destroy the enviable peace we are enjoying.” Mr Zougrana said.

Mr Yahaya Adam, Headmaster of Dakpema Junior High School and Madam Hannah Aziwu, Headteacher of the Bulpela Taskif EA Primary and KG, thanked the group for the kind gesture.

Madam Aziwu called on the government to repair the school’s classrooms and provide materials to enhance teaching and learning.
