Ghana makes historic debut at World Cup of Federation International Football Skating

Accra, Nov.28, GNA – A Ghanaian delegation, led by Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, President of Ghana Skating have arrived in Turkey to mark their maiden appearance at the 15th Senior and 1st Junior World Cup of the Federation International Football Skating (FIFS) 2024.

Ghana presented a formidable team for the inaugural edition of the junior tournament, demonstrating commitment to developing the sport among its youth.

The team, comprised of talented young football skaters, mainly from the SWAT Skate Club who showcased their skills and determination on the rink.

The competition would give the players invaluable experience and exposure to the international football skating community and also foster international friendship.

Beyond the tournament, the Ghanaian delegation would participate in a congress where representatives from participating countries would convene to discuss the progress and growth of football skating globally.

Mr. Kportufe expressed his optimism about Ghana’s participation in the tournament.

“We are excited and thrilled to make our debut at the FIFS World Cup. This is an eye-opener for young people, especially ladies, whom we intend to grow the sports with.

This marks a significant milestone in our journey to promote and develop football skating in Ghana and skating as a whole. We look forward to learning from this experience and using it as a springboard for future success.”

Accompanying President Johnson Kportufe were Prosper Ashiquaye Doku and Godfrey William Amarteifio who served as General Secretary and Vice President respectively.
