Bamianko (W/R), Oct. 17, GNA – Earth Rock Prestige Limited, a private company in the Gwira Traditional Area, has handed over an ambulance vehicle to the Bamianko Health Centre in the Nzema-East Municipality.

The ambulance is meant to respond to emergency health situations by referral patients in critical condition from the centre to other neighbouring polyclinics and other hospitals.

The donation followed an appeal by the Gwiraman Traditional Council to the Earth Rock Prestige Limited to support the Hospital.

Presenting the keys of the ambulance to the Health Centre at a short  ceremony at Bamianko in the Western Region, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Earth Rock Prestige Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Kutubebi, said the gesture formed part of their corporate social responsibility to respond to the needs of the Bamianko  Health Center to be well-equipped to cater for the health care needs of people in the Gwira enclave.

He said the company would continue to refurbish and help to upgrade the Health Center.

Mr. Kutubebi reminded medical staff and people in the area that the Ambulance was not meant to convey dead bodies but patients who were in critical condition.

Dr. Frank Kessie, the Deputy Physician at the Bamianko Health Centre, who received the keys to the vehicle, thanked the Gwiraman Traditional Council through the instrumentality of the Paramount Chief, Awulae Angama Tu-Adjan for spearheading the move for the Ambulance to the Center.

He said the centre was beset with a myriad of problems which were militating against good quality healthcare delivery in the area.

Dr Kessie said most of the referral cases to Axim, Eikwe and beyond, became a source of concern since the centre had no ambulance vehicle.

Awulae Angama Tu-Adjan, Paramount Chief and President of the Gwira Traditional Council who chaired the function thanked the Company for responding to the demands by the Traditional Council.

He stressed the importance of good healthcare delivery to national development.

Awulae Angama Tu-Adjan who is the Vice-President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, said the Nzema-East Municipality has only one Government Hospital in Axim which was far away for people in the Gwira area to access medical facilities.

Awulae Angama Tu-Adjan called on the government to upgrade the Health Center into a Polyclinic if not a fully-fledged hospital to meet the ever-increasing demands of the people.

He lauded the CEO of the Earth Rock Prestige Limited for donating a similar ambulance to Gwira-Banso some months ago.

Awulae Angama Tu-Adjan thanked the company for the construction of nurses’ and teachers’ quarters for the  Asuawaa community which were at various stages of completion.

Awulae also thanked the company for moves to relocate the  Awolezo township, which was usually displaced by flood during heavy downpour, to a safer settlement.

He advised staff at the Health Center not to use the Ambulance to convey dead bodies.
