Tumu, (UWR), Oct. 09, GNA – Mr Stephen Yakubu, the Upper West Regional Minister, has handed over two pick-up vehicles to two Senior High Schools in Tumu, which were promised by the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

The requests for the vehicles were contained in a speech made during a visit by the Vice President, Dr  Bawumia to Tumu, which was read on behalf of the Tumu Kuoro, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton IV, the Paramount Chief of the Tumu Traditional Council.

The two beneficiary schools are the Tumu Senior High Technical School and the Kanton Senior High School.

Presenting the two Mitsubishi pick-up vehicles, Mr Yakubu said: “I had a call from the Vice President, asking of the request by the Tumu Kuoro and whether I remember it, which I answered in the affirmative. He then told me that two pick-up vehicles were on the way to Wa and that I should give them to Tumu Kuoro on his behalf.”

The Regional Minister explained that the Vice President had been able to get two out of the three requested and promised to deliver the third one once the people supported his bid in the upcoming elections.

“The Vice President has informed me to request the support of the Sissala East people for him to win the 2024 election and once he wins, he will ensure the third car also comes, including other developments for the people.”

The regional minister commended the commitment and selfless action of the Tumu Kuoro, by requesting the vehicle for the Senior High Schools in his area.

Also, at the event,  Alhaji Amidu Chinnia Issahaku, the Member of Parliament for the Sissala East constituency,  was grateful to the Vice President for the donation and implored the leadership of the beneficiary schools to take good care of the vehicles.

On behalf of the beneficiary schools, the headmaster of Kanton Senior High School, Mr Kanton Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the Tumu Kuoro for initiating the process, which came as a surprise, though the schools had always tabled their challenges and issues to the chief.

Mr  Mohammed also expressed appreciation to the Vice President for the kind gesture and promised to utilize the vehicle for the administrative work of the schools.
