Iranian Nobel laureate taken to hospital

Tehran, Nov. 17, (dpa/GNA) – Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi, who is imprisoned in Iran, has been taken to hospital for a heart examination.
Mohammadi was allowed to leave prison to continue medical treatment, according to the human rights activist’s Instagram account, which is run by relatives abroad.
Just the day before, Mohammadi had once again been denied access to the hospital because she was not wearing the mandatory headscarf, the relatives said.
It was not immediately clear how long Mohammadi will remain in hospital.
The 51-year-old Mohammadi, one of Iran’s best-known human rights activists, is currently serving a long prison sentence in the notorious Evin prison in Tehran.
She was honoured with the Nobel Peace Prize this year “for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all.”
