Tamale, Dec. 10, GNA -Dr Braimah Baba Abubakari, the Acting Northern Regional Director of Ghana Health Service has called on researchers to identify and help solve challenges in the healthcare delivery system.

He said researchers should be able to come out with unique solutions to address the challenges which exist in the healthcare delivery service.

Dr Abubakari made the call during Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) Scientific Researchers conference in Tamale.

The conference was on the theme: “Harness the Intellectual Prowess of Researchers for Quality Healthcare Delivery in Tamale Teaching Hospital”.

The participants in the conference discussed issues and brainstormed solutions to a myriad of problems that confronted health system.

Dr Abubakari urged TTH management and the research department to invest more in the healthcare information department to ensure that data quality issues were resolved.

He also appealed to the Management of the hospital to devote a percentage of their annual budget to support research activities in the hospital.

Mr Alhassan M. Shamudeem, Head of Research and Development Department at TTH said that revenue generation during the COVID-19 pandemic dropped while expenditure increased.

“It is demonstrable that the COVID-19 pandemic left the TTH with a ballooned expenditure and disrupted the health service delivery,” he added
