Ghana to host maiden Africa Armwrestling qualifiers for African Games

Lagos (Nigeria), July 24, GNA – Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF), will host the maiden edition of the Africa Armwrestling qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Games to be held in Ghana.

The Congress of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA), voted in favour of the motion to make the 12th edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship, a qualifying event for the 2023 Africa Games.

According to the rules for the qualifiers, the first eight countries at the end of the team classification would qualify to the Africa Games.

Mr. Charles Osei Asibey, President of GAF, said he was excited to host the continent in Ghana especially when he had been voted President of AFA.

He urged all members of the federation to visit Ghana for the competition and enjoy the good hospitality Ghana had to offer.

“This is a double task for us in GAF as we would host the continent twice next year for the Africa Championship and Africa Games. We have the capacity to host them as we did in 2018 and I assure Members of the Federation of a good show,” he said in an interview with the GNA Sports.

The President mentioned that GAF would soon come out with the names of the Local Organising Committee to immediately start work.
