Accra, July 15, GNA – St John’s Grammar Senior High School has won the maiden Christian Religious Studies (CRS) Bible Quiz competition.
St John’s Grammar School prevailed against tough competition from five other Senior High Schools (SHS) in Greater Accra.
In all, six SHS competed in the quiz with St John’s scoring 109 points; followed keenly by second-placed His Majesty SHS having 102 points and third-placed Accra Girls SHS having 82 points.
The remaining three were Wesley Grammar SHS, scoring 64 points, followed by Fafraha Community SHS with 45 points, and Lapaz Community SHS, having 39 points.
The CRS Bible Quiz organised by Honeycomb Ministry is a competition that examined students’ knowledge in the Christian Religious Studies course.
Madam Cecilia Danso, CEO of Honeycomb Ministry, an interdenominational Christian group, said they aimed to improve the bible knowledge in students.
She said this would facilitate the building of good morals and character in the students.
“The purpose of this is to ignite the passion for service in the youth through the word of God,” she added.
Madam Danso noted that the quiz was also to help the students, most of whom were reading CRS, to gain much insight into their studies.
She intimated that they were planning to include more schools in the quiz as well as extend the quiz to other regions in future.
The participating schools were presented with plaques, hampers, bibles, and certificates, among others.
