Koforidua, June 27, GNA – The Nation Builders Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) is appealing to the Government of Ghana to settle their eight months arrears before rolling out the YouStart program.
The YouStart program is a Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) transmission program by the Government to provide funds and technical support to youth and youth-led businesses.
A statement signed by the National President of NABTAG, Mr Dennis O Katakyie and copied to the Ghana News Agency acknowledged the Government for the initiative to reduce the graduate unemployment rate in the country by the introduction of NABCO.
However, the statement indicated that the launch of the YouStart program without settling the eight months of arrears owed to the trainees was a wrong signal to the trainees rolled onto the YouStart program.
“It does not send the right signal when you have not paid NABCO trainees for the past eight months which has plunged them into severe hardship but readying for the launch of YouStart.”
The NABTAG, through the statement also appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to complete the process of offering permanent appointments to the Educate Ghana Trainees under the NABCO.
“The data collection exercise has been hanging far too long with no positive outcome. We humbly appeal to the GES to consummate its process,” it stated.
The Nation Builders Corps is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems including public service delivery in health, education, agriculture, technology, and governance and drive revenue mobilization and collection.
