Berlin, Mar. 15, (dpa/GNA) – Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko has imposed a curfew on the city from 8 pm (1800 GMT) Tuesday to 5 am on Thursday.
The move comes after several residential areas were struck by Russian forces in the early hours of Tuesday.
Most residents are only allowed to leave their homes to seek safety in shelters and bunkers, Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
“Therefore, I call on all Kyivis to prepare for the fact that they will have to stay at home for two days or in the shelter in case of an alarm,” Klitschko wrote.
On Tuesday morning, officials said a total of four residential buildings were hit in several Kiev districts, killing at least two people.
Russian troops are trying to encircle the Ukrainian capital from several sides.
