Kiev, Feb 25, (dpa/GNA) – The Ukrainian military says its troops are fighting Russian forces in the greater Kiev area.
Referring to two zones in the northwest of the capital, military spokesman Olexiy Arestovych told journalists: “There is already fighting there.”
Preparations were underway to defend central Kiev, he said.
The Ukrainian army had destroyed “some” Russian helicopters and military equipment, he said. Such statements cannot be independently verified at present.
