Amnesty International’s report on Israel credible—Embassy

Tema, Feb. 11, GNA – The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Accra says Amnesty International’s report that Israel is committing the crime of apartheid against Palestinians is credible.

The Embassy in a statement said the report accurately captured the oppression the Palestinians had been suffering and underlined the need to hold the Israeli leaders accountable.

Amnesty’s 280-page report highlights forcible relocation of people, expropriation of Palestinian land, cases of extrajudicial killings and discrimination among others but the Israeli government has rejected the report, calling it, “false, biased and antisemitic”.

The Embassy said it found it baffling that some countries, it would not mention by names, should ran into the defence of the occupying power – Israel, in the face of the compelling evidence of discrimination, rights violations and breaches of international law.

“The testimonies are documented as stated in the Amnesty report, but those countries that have rejected the report, insist on not changing their position, which provides Israel with absolute protection from accountability for any crime it commits or violation of international law.”

The statement said the position of these countries was emboldening Israel to continue to act with impunity.

It underlined the unswerving resolve of the Palestinians to mobilize global support to pile up diplomatic pressure to hold Israel accountable for the crime of apartheid.

They would continue to follow up on the Amnesty report with all international parties and nations.
