Hearts coach lauds Muntari’s positive attitude in debut game

Accra, Feb. 08, GNA – Samuel Boadu Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak has lauded the positive demeanour of Sulley Ali Muntari in their 1-0 loss against rivals Great Olympics in a match-day 15 encounter of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan player made his debut for the Phobians against Great Olympics having made a cameo in the 77th minute.

Muntari during the match displayed some quality touches with the teaming fans cheering him on as he became the first ever UEFA Champions League winner to play in the GPL. 

Speaking in a post-match interview after the game, Coach Boadu was elated to have such a big player as part of the team and was amazed with Muntari’s humility having heeded to his tactical instructions.

“It was very great to have a big player like Muntari play under me. He is very humble and a good listener. 

“Whatever you tell him he tries to do his best and when he was about to come on, I told him to give simple passes and he listened to me. If he goes on like this, he would really help the club,” Coach Boadu said.

Hearts defender Mohamed Alhassan also revealed that Muntari in the dressing room did motivate the team to move on despite the defeat and focus on subsequent matches. 

“It was a wonderful feeling playing with Muntari. Most of us often see him on television but now he is our teammate and it feels great. 

“He [Muntari] was down after the defeat but he told us to put everything behind us and motivated us to move on and that it is not over yet and we should focus on our next game,” he said in a post-match presser.

Hearts who are seventh on the league table would travel to Tamale to face RTU in the final game of the first round.
