Aflao (V/R), Jan 1, GNA— Residents of Ketu South Municipality welcomed the new year, 2022 in style at the various churches.
The auditoriums of most the churches were filled to the brim and there were songs of worship, praise and adoration to the Creator for his mercies, love, blessings and protection throughout 2021.
Visits to some churches by Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Aflao and Denu revealed interesting themes, including “Crossing with Hope: A Night with Jesus and Decision Making” and “The Siege is over”, which were chosen to invite excited and expectant members and first-time worshippers to the watch night service.
At Jesus Miracle Temple, Aflao (Bazooka Fire Centre), the founder, Apostle Prophet Elijah Dogli, led the congregants, who performed crazy dance moves, to show their excitement for being alive to see 2022 and to pray for good tidings in the New Year, including financial freedom.
District Pastor, Church of Pentecost, Denu, Rev Alfred Agbetsiafa, in a sermon, urged members to rest easy and not entertain any fears and trust that it would end well for them.
Rev Agbetsiafa, therefore, encouraged the congregants to have faith and not be fearful in times of tribulation for “you’ll cross over to the other side.”
While some churches the GNA visited were not strict on COVID-19 protocols like wearing of face mask and hand hygiene, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Aflao and Border United Church, Aflao adhered to the protocols with the former restricting access to the auditorium to those without masks while the latter dished out face masks to congregants without them.
