Chief advises agric extension officers against partisan considerations

Dormaa-Ahenkro, (B/R), Dec. 21, GNA – Barimah Oppong Yaw Boabasa, the Gyaasehene of Dormaa Traditional Area has advised staff and extension officers of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED) in the Dormaa Central Municipality to execute their work devoid of partisan considerations.

He said allegations that some staff of the division supplied agricultural inputs to farmers on partisan considerations were unacceptable and not the best, saying such beharviour would affect cocoa production in the area.

Barimah Boabasa gave the advice at the end of year get-together organised by the Division at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Bono Region, which honoured some deserving staff in the area.

He said a good relationship was required between the staff of the division, particularly extension officers and the farmers.

Barimah Boabasa cautioned farmers against the excessive application of insecticide and agro chemicals that could lead to food poisoning, and loss of nutrients, and soil infertility.

He advised parents to encourage and motivate their unemployed children to engage in commercial agriculture to better their lives.
