NRSC encourages more women to venture into the transport business

Takoradi, Nov. 29, GNA – More women have been encouraged to venture into the transportation sector to help curb the rate of of road crashes and Carnages in the country.

Nana Ekua Ansaah Cobbinah, the Western Regional Head of the National Road Safety Commission told the GNA that the death rate among male drivers was becoming alarming by the day and must be checked to avoid losing a chunk of the male productive force to road accidents.

She said, “our statistics for the three quarters of this year alone shows that we have lost 1940 men to road crashes due to human error but we have never heard of any such rampant accidents among women who are driving these long vehicles of Zen Petroleum.”

The Regional Head said women seemed to be careful with driving and hence the call for them to take full control of that sector and advance right practices to save the many perishing lives.

“We just celebrated our Crush Victims Remembrance day and we have embarked on serious education and inspection at the various transport stations especially as we approach the yuletide to ensure that plying our roads become safer”.

Nana Ekua Ansaah Cobbinah encouraged both drivers and other road users to be safety conscious and conduct their activities with care to minimize road crashes.
