Poor telecommunication network affecting operations of Kotoso Health centre

Kotoso (E/R), Nov. 27, GNA – Mr Elliot Robert Asare, the Chief Physician at the Kotoso Health center has called on the National Communications Authority (NCA) to as a matter of urgency work on the telecommunications network of the Kotoso community

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kotoso in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region, he said taking records of patients who visited the facility, especially when registering or enrolling them on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) via the internet was hectic since they have to travel from Kotoso to nearby communities to get access to the internet.

He said the challenge was preventing some of the health workers from staying in the community to attend to urgent cases during the night or at odd hours.

He said communicating with some of the health workers who had volunteered to live in the community through phone calls to attend to severe cases was difficult and pleaded for immediate intervention.

Mr Asare said since the establishment of the facility in 2011, it had not seen any facelift, adding that the electricity bills of the facility were draining the coffers of the facility.

He appealed to the Kwahu East District Assembly, philanthropists, and other Non- Governmental Organizations to assist the Kotoso Health Center.

He said the attendance of patients to the facility was encouraging and pleaded that the center would be expanded for the comfort of patients who visited the center.

He said the facility needed bungalows and medical equipment for the health workers who were posted to the community and pleaded with natives of Kotoso and Kwahu to come to their aid.

Mr Asare encouraged the people especially the girls to patronise the Reproductive Center in the facility to help reduce unwanted and teenage pregnancies on the rise in the area.
