Two astute boxing administrators eye GBF top positions

Accra, Nov. 16, GNA – Two boxing administrators have declared their intention to vie for positions in the impending elections of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF).

Renowned boxing administrator Mr. Abdul Rasheed Williams known in the boxing circles as “Believer” has declared his intention to vie for the position of the Ist Vice President.

Mr. Rasheed Williams, who is also the Secretary of the United Boxing Coaches Association of Ghana, has over 30 years of experience in the sport and is expected to come on board with this vast experience to develop the sport.

Also in contention for the 2nd Vice President’s position is Mr. Solomon Otoo.

Known in boxing circles as “Mangola”, the astute administrator who is currently the Organiser of the Greater Accra Boxing Federation wants to climb a step higher in the hierarchy of the sport.

With almost ten years of experience in the industry, Mr. Otoo, who works with the international boxing agency Assassin Boxing Management, Box Office Boxing Promotions, and a matchmaker for over 20 years said he wants to contribute to change the face of amateur boxing in Ghana.

“We can do better at the international competition if we plan well, It’s all about organising, and we know how to organize the boxers and coaches.

“I believe we can win more medals at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games in the future. I want the delegates to vote for me to change for the betterment of the sport,” he added.

The Ghana Boxing Federation Congress comes off on December 18 at the Media Center of the Accra Sports Stadium.
