Lambussie, (UW/R), Nov. 15, GNA – A total of 917 final year Junior High School (JHS) students from 34 schools in the Lambussie District in the Upper West Region on Monday began the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) examination in the district.
Out of the 917 candidates writing in three (3) Examination centres in the district, 456 are males while the remaining 462 are females.
Mr John Baptist Kulah, the Lambussie District Education Director made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency after inspecting and addressing candidates at some of the centres.
The BECE examination, which began nationwide is expected to end on Friday November 19, 2021.
Mr Kulah said the examination in the various centres had so far begun smoothly saying, “The exams have started on a good note and students and invigilators adherence to the COVID-19 safety protocols are been observed in the centres”.
He said the necessary training were given some weeks ago to the supervisors and invigilators according to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) rules and regulations against any form of malpractice.
Mr Kulah urged the candidates to remain calm and read carefully, understand and answer the questions since the examination was within their standard.
He, however, cautioned them to desist from any form of examination malpractice, warning that they would not be spared if caught cheating.
Some of the candidates who spoke to the GNA earlier before the exams, expressed confidence in their preparedness for the Examination and expressed hope that they would excel with flying colors.
