Agona Nkwanta (W/R), Nov. 15, GNA – Mr Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) in the Western Region has urged candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to approach the examination with confidence.
He said there was nothing to fear since the papers were within their standards.”We wish you well in the examinations. We were once like you, it was because we were able to pass our examinations that is why we are where we are today”, he asserted.
Mr Kum gave the advice when he interacted with some candidates at the St. Mary’s Boys SHS and Baidoo Bonsoe SHS Centers in the Municipality to motivate them.
The MP wished the candidates the best of luck and asked for God’s protection and guidance for them throughout the examination period, while donating pens to each of the candidates.
He said fortunately for the parents of the candidates they don’t have to worry once they passed their papers because of the Government’s Free SHS policy it would take care of their second cycle education.
Mr Mark Adoba Adateke, Ahanta West Municipal Director of Education was impressed with the enthusiasm exhibited by the pupils and reminded them to read through their questions and ensure they provided accurate answers.
He hinted that all the necessary measures to fight the spread of COVID-19 had been put in place and urged the candidates to go by the rules and regulations governing the examination.
Mr John Agyare, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of AWMA urged the invigilators to be soft on the pupils and not intimidate them to create fear in them to rob them of their confidence.
He also appealed to the candidates, supervisors and the invigilators to strictly adhere to all the COVID-19 safety protocols made available at the centers.
In all, a total of 3,174 candidates comprising 1,548 boys and 1,626 girls are sitting for the examination at 10 centers with 57 invigilators.
