Lawyer for alleged pregnant woman says landed properties do not meet bail requirement

Takoradi, Sept 29, GNA – Lawyer Fifi Buckman, lead counsel for the alleged “kidnapped pregnant” woman, says the woman is still in police custody because the landed properties presented by the family are not registered with appropriate authorities in the country.

The bail bond requested a 50,000 cedis with two sureties one to be justified but two days after the Takoradi circuit court “A” granted the bail condition, the woman is still in the custody of the Ghana Police.

Josephine Panyin Simons is standing trial for allegedly faking her pregnancy and kidnapping for which she pleaded not guilty.

Lawyer Fifi Buckman told journalists that though some properties were presented by the families, they did not meet the bail application and encouraged most property owners to endeavour to register them.

Josephine Panyin Simons went missing on September 16 carrying a full-blown pregnancy but was found some days later without the pregnancy.

The Ghana Police, subsequently notified the public that interrogation and a medical report had shown that she was not pregnant or had delivered in the period under review.
