Tema, Sep. 13, GNA – James Awuku returned a net score of 65 to win this year’s Celebrity Golf Club Captain’s Prize Championship played at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday.
He was followed by Gaarigai Ndiuon with 78 net, beating Ben Baard on count-back to the third position.
In the Group ‘B’ segment, Alex Oppong Baffour came first with 61 net, Kofi Ntsiful took the second position with 70 net while Michael Nyarko placed third with71 net.
In the Ladies encounter, young enterprising Bernice Esi Dzitorwork emerged champion with 69 net, Ann Beverly Brown took the second position with 74 net while Jenny Lee placed third with 77 net.
The Ladies Group ‘B’ segment saw Georgina Andoh emerging champion with 73 net, beating Gladys Awuni on count-back while Patricia Adusei Opoku took the third position with 76 net.
The one-day 18-hole event which attracted 100 golfers was played in honour of David Renner, Captain of the club.
It was sponsored by Equity Health Insurance, KLM, MTN Ghana, Cosmos Seafoods Company Limited and Apartel Hotel.
Mr. Renner commended the participants for their sportsmanship behaviour towards the game and called on the youth to take an active interest in the sport.
He also commended the organization for their support towards the development of the sport and called on mother corporate bodies to help develop the game.
