GABBSO inaugurates newly-elected national executives

Kumasi, July 05, GNA – The newly-elected national executives of the Ghana Association of Barbers and Barbering Salon Owners (GABBSO), have been entreated to avoid acrimony and work together to advance the fundamental interest of members.

It was their duty to address members’ needs within the context of the contemporary barbering industry, Mr. Emmanuel Benimah, Deputy General-Secretary in charge of Administration of the Industrial and Commercial Workers’ Union (ICU)-Ghana, advised.

“GABBSO needs to find new ways of imparting knowledge to its trainees and apprentices to bring them in tune with modern technological developments and applications in the industry,” he stated.

Mr. Benimah was inaugurating the newly-elected nine-member national executives in Kumasi, an event that climaxed the Fourth Quadrennial National Delegates’ Conference of the Association.

The nine-member executive committee has Mr. Ibrahim Musah as National President.

Others members comprised Mr. Francis Kobia, National Vice-President, Mr. George Kwame Dogbe, National Secretary, Mr. Isaac Oware, Assistant National Secretary, Mr. Ishmael Rauf Ussif, National First Trustee, and Mr. Michael Agbesi, National Second Trustee.

The rest were Mr. Ernest Frimpong, National Organizer for the Southern Sector, Mr. Ahmed Suleman Rockson, National Organizer for the Northern Sector, and Mr. Dotse Dzaklidzie, National Executive Member.

Mr. Benimah said ICU-Ghana shard in the Association’s dream of developing itself to international standards, and, for that matter, its recent delegates’ conference was apt and timely.

“The need for GABBSO to take a look into its fold and to close its ranks is more than ever present.

“This is necessary to enable you to solidify your front in unity. I implore you to let go of your differences, share ideas and rally your strengths together,” the ICU-Ghana Deputy General-Secretary emphasized.

He cautioned the national officers to adhere to the laid-down rules and bye-laws as this would help enrich the principles of democracy within the structure of the Association.

Mr. Dogbe, the GABBSO National Secretary, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), on the sideline of the programme, asked members to be committed to their responsibilities.

This was vital to ensuring a healthy and safe working environment to promote the barbers’ interest and that of the public, he added.

Mr. Ibrahim Musah, the National President, appealed to the government to support the Association with skill upgrades and international exchange programmes to build their capacity for sustainable development.
