Two-thirds of Germans unhappy with coronavirus crisis management

Berlin, May 14, (dpa/GNA) – Almost two-thirds of German citizens are unhappy with how the government is explaining and justifying the current coronavirus restrictions, according to the latest poll by dimap for broadcaster ARD published on Thursday.

The number of people criticizing the explanation of the rules slightly declined in the May poll compared to April. Overall, 65 percent of citizens eligible to vote are unhappy with how the measures are being communicated – 7 percentage points less than in April.

Some 32 percent of respondents are happy with how the rules are being communicated, 5 percentage points more than in April.

The evaluation of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign also scored more positively in May, with 36 per cent viewing it as positive, compared to 16 percent in April.

Some 62 percent are unhappy with the management of the vaccinations, 21 percentage points less than in April.

The evaluation of the vaccination campaign strongly depended on age, with about half of people over 65 giving a positive assessment, while only about a third of people below that age did so.
