E.P College of Education holds matriculation for 371 students

Amedzofe, (V/R), Feb. 12, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education at Amedzofe (AMECO) in the Volta Region has held its 14th matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students.

A total of 371 students, made up 188 males and 183 females, representing 50.67 percent and 49.3 percent respectively were matriculated for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Dr Dickson Tsey, Principal of the College disclosed that the students were admitted from 11 out of the 16 regions of the country as an attempt of having regional balance, expressing hope of achieving 100 percent regional representation in coming years.

He admonished the students to make good use of the opportunity the College offered them to lay a strong foundation for their educational and professional career.

Dr Tsey charged them to uphold the rules and regulations governing the institution, live up to the matriculation oath and avoid acts that could make them fall foul of the law of the College.

The Principal reminded them of their obligation in contributing to the development of the College and uplifting its image, having been accepted into the College community.

Dr Tsey asked them to exhibit a high level of discipline during their stay in the College, be obedient and determined to overcome any challenge to achieve their dreams.

“Your decision to invest in knowledge acquisition is the best, though it might have been too difficult to make, but never lose hope, let God be at the centre of your life,” he added.

“The best student is the one who knows how to apportion his or her time and sets his or her priorities right,” he said, urging them to demonstrate total commitment to time and focus on their studies to make the best out of it.

Dr Tsey advised them to explore the world around them, make good use of modern technology including social media to acquire relevant information to broaden their knowledge and enhance their academic work.

He commended them for their qualification into the College, and assured them of the institution’s readiness and commitment to provide them with quality tuition.

The Principal disclosed that the level 300 students were currently studying online off campus and would return to campus after six weeks for face-to-face interaction.

He said the level 200 students who were currently having their studies on campus would then interchange with the level 300 students.

Dr Tsey said the College had not recorded any case of COVID-19 due to efforts being made by Management and COVID-19 Team as well as students’ compliance with the preventive protocols.

The students took the Matriculation Oath administered by the Principal and signed the Matriculation Register.
