Duayaw-Nkwanta, (A/R), Feb. 03, GNA – Mrs Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North constituency, has presented medical equipment to the Tano North Municipal Directorate of Health in the Ahafo Region.
The equipment, comprising examination couches, pulse oximeters, autoclave machines, oxygen concentrators, ward screens, IV stands, wheel chairs, suction machines, patient trolleys and dispensers are to be distributed among 20 health facilities in the Municipality.
Beneficiary facilities include; the St John’s of God Hospital, Bomaa Government Hospital, Yamfo, Tanoso, Techire, Adrobaa, Duayaw-Nkwanta and Buokrukruwa health centres, and Bredi, Dwenase and Subonpan Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compounds.
Others are; the Susuanso, Mankraho, Adagyemen, Tanoano, Atudrobesa, Gyaakye, Subriso number One and Sukuumu CHPS compounds.
Mrs Prempeh, also Minister of State Designate for Works and Housing commended health workers in deprived communities in the area for their selfless services, and assured she would ensure all health facilities in the area were stocked with required medical devices and equipment.
She advised her constituents to avoid self-medication, but instead visit the health facilities whenever they fell sick, and expressed the hope that the beneficiary facilities would take good care of the equipment.
Mrs Eva Aryee, the Tano North Municipal Director of Health, commended the MP for her commitment towards helping to enhance quality healthcare delivery in the area, and gave the assurance that the equipment would be distributed to the facilities as soon as possible.
In a related development, the MP has since last year presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth GH¢500,000 to the health directorate in its bid to stem the spread of the Coronavirus Disease in the Municipality.
The PPE include; alcohol-based hand sanitizers, liquid and medicated soaps, reusable and surgical nosemasks, Veronica Buckets and detergents.
At a similar presentation held at Duayaw-Nkwanta, Mrs Prempeh advised health workers to be extra careful when attending to patients, and wear their nose masks always to prevent the spread of the disease among themselves.
She promised her readiness to provide health workers in the area with the required PPE, and called on the directorate to alert her anytime they needed safety equipment.
Mrs Prempeh emphasised without the support of the populace, the government and the Ghana Health Service could not succeed in the nationwide fight against the COVID-19 and appealed to the public to adhere to COVID-19 protocols, and government restrictions.
