Accra, Jan 25, GNA – Residents of Domeabra- Obom in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have appealed to government and Non-Governmental Organisations to assist them with a community clinic to improve on healthcare delivery.
The residents said the absence of a community clinic was detrimental to effective healthcare delivery.
Residents of the community who are mostly low income earners said they were compelled to travel long distances to access healthcare.
Initially, the current situation of the community was bad as the residents had to move kilometres to attend health Care.
Some nearby places they do attend are; Amanfrom Polyclinic, Ashalaja, Amasaman, Kordua and Bawjase.
Theses came up when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a random interview asked some residents and the Assembly Members how they were coping up without a health Care.
Mr Bartolomeo Gadese, the Assembly Member said residents in the area, who were predominantly peasant farmers, had financial difficulties attending nearby private clinics due to their costly charges which his office with some elders of the community gathered money sometime ago and built a clinic, where the residents attended but was demolished because of its weakness and lack of infrastructure.
Mr Gadese said the children care was now moved to the old market square after the demolition.
Madam Joyce Galley, a farmer said, just recently she was seriously ill and had to move kilometres away to Kordua clinic and on her way, the vehicle broke down and left her stranded to pick a bus.
Madam Belinda Amewu, a resident said COVID-19 cases had rapidly risen up and yet they had no clinic for check-ups to determine their status on the COVID-19 pandemic.
