Foreign Affairs Ministry opens passport office in Wa

Wa, Nov. 25, GNA – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration says it plans to establish Regional Passport Application Centres in Bolgatanga, and the six newly created regions in the country.

These centres would be made functional by the end of 2021, as part of government’s efforts to expand the Passport operations in the country.

Mr Mohammed Habib Tijani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration announced this when he commissioned the Upper West Regional Passport Application Centre (PAC) in Wa, bringing to 13 the number of PACs established across the country.

The ultimate goal is to rollout online application platforms in all the regional capitals.

Mr Tijani said the PACs would help make it convenient, accessible, and reduce overcrowding, and check improper completion of forms, documents fraud and interference by unscrupulous persons in the operational processes of passport acquisition.

He appealed to people in the Region to patronise the services of the centre, while men and women should also take advantage of it to establish Internet Cafes.

Mr Tijani said the Ministry was collaborating with the Birth and Deaths Registry, the Controller and Accountant Generals Department, the Ghana Immigration Service and other security services to send their representatives to the Centre to help enhance effective and efficient operations.

He appealed to the representatives of the various security services and other government establishments who would be coming to support the Centre to bring professionalism to bear on its operations.
