Accra, Oct. 21, GNA – The Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG), a Group affiliated to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sworn to wrestle the Amasaman and Domeabra-Obom seats from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Group is running a door to door campaign in the two constituencies to win the seats from incumbents NDC Members of Parliament.
In an interaction with Executives and members of the NPP in Amasaman, the Group assured the members of their support to win the December 7, elections.
“We will continue to spread the good news of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo achievements,” Mr Akwasi Awua-Ababio, the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency said.
He said: “As diasporans, who have been appointed in Ghana, it was very important we joined the campaign to ensure a second term for the President.”
Mr Awua-Ababio said there was the need for them to prove to everyone that, they do not just come from abroad and take positions but were working to ensure a second victory for the Government.
Mr Prince Sefah, the President of the Diaspora Patriots in Ghana assured the executives of both constituencies that the Group would be involved in all campaign activities till December 7, 2020.
“DPG Members will volunteer in all capacities including; being polling agents during the election, until victory is handed to the NPP for the first time in Amasaman,” Mr Sefah said.
Mr Akwasi Owusu Afrifa, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Amasaman Constituency said the party was poised to win the seat for the NPP for the first time and thanked the Group for their support.
At Domeabra-Obom, the Group joined the people of the constituency in their door to door campaign.
Mr Sefah entreated the constituents to look at the good works of the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate, Mr Philip Doe and vote for him, adding, “the candidate has built a lot of boreholes for communities in this constituency and this shows how development-oriented he is.”
“The NDC has neglected Domeabra-Obom for a long time and it is time to change and vote for Mr Doe,” he added.
Mr Doe appealed to the constituents to give the NPP the chance to make a difference in performing more than the NDC.“This is an election of records, even as a Candidate, I have done far more than the current MP,” he said.
The DPG donated scores of party t-shirts and face masks and hand sanitizers to the constituents as part of their support to fight COVID-19 and has promised to be a part of the campaign until victory was declared for the NPP.
The Amasaman and the Domeabra-Obom constituencies have remained the NDC seats since 2004, but the NPP is determined to win the seats for the first time.
