C. K Akonnor makes five changes to face Qatar today

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA – Head Coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has made five changes to face Asian champions, Qatar today in a friendly encounter in Antalya, Turkey.

Goalkeeper Razak Abalora, who is currently unattached has been given the chance to start in post ahead of Lawrence Ati-Zigi who conceded three goals against Mali in Ghana’s first match.

Youngster Benson Annan would play at right back with Gideon Mensah maintaining his place at left back.

Alexander Djiku who was deployed in a midfield position against Mali, moves to central defence to partner Joseph Aidoo. Djiku and Aidoo would play in the heart of defence in place of Nicholas Opoku who is injured and Kassim Nuhu Adams.

In midfield, Baba Iddrisu replaces Bernard Mensah. Baba would partner Thomas Teye-Partey to provide cover for the backline.

Saudi Arabia based winger Samuel Owusu makes his way into the starting line up for tonight’s game. Owusu would play on the right-wing of Ghana’s attack in place of Eugene Ansah. While Tarique Fosu operates on the left wing with Captain Andre Ayew playing in the hole behind striker Jordan Ayew.

The Black Stars would be hoping to put up an improved performance tonight against Qatar.

The game is part of Ghana’s build up to next month’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan.
