Nsuaem (W/R), July 2, GNA – The on-going Registration Exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voter’s register for the December poll is progressing smoothly in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency.
Mr Ekow Essien, Municipal EC officer, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said the exercise would be carried out in five phases in the constituency to enable Ghanaians who were 18 years and above to have the opportunity to register.
The Municipal EC officer indicated that the first phase comprised twenty one polling centres and a maximum of six days would be used to capture qualified voters.
At the end of day one of the nationwide exercise which commenced on Tuesday June 30, a total of 1,775 prospective voters had so far been registered and issued with their cards, Mr Essien announced.
“Am impressed with the progress made so far as we have not encountered any challenge,” he said.
He implored eligible voters to come and have their names captured in the nationwide voters register.
As at 0050 hours that the GNA visited the Methodist Junior High School (JHS) Nsuaem, D.C primary school, Kadawen 1 & 2, community centre, Kyekyewere 1& 2 and Methodist primary school, Essamang 1& 2 polling centres where some of the registration was conducted many people had already turned out.
Many of them were in queues with others seated and waiting in turn to register and observing the compulsory COVID-19 protocols.
