Junior High Schools in Hohoe observing COVID-19 safety protocols

Hohoe (V/R), July 01, GNA – Students and teachers in Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Hohoe Municipality are adhering to COVID-19 precautionary measures as students prepare for their final examinations.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) to some schools in Hohoe, Gbi-Wegbe, Gbi-Akplamafu, Fodome, and Alavanyo saw students and staff in nose masks while classes maintained 25 students in a class.

Mr. Andrews Teddy Ofori, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who spoke to the GNA after visiting some schools in the Municipality commended students and staff for adhering to the safety protocols.

He admonished the students to continue to observe the precautionary measures and learn to be able to excel in their final examinations.

“Tell yourself the coronavirus cannot attack you but you must continue to observe the precautionary measures. Be attentive in class and learn hard to pass your exams and benefit from the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy,” he added

Madam Bertha Dogbeten, Headmistress of the Gbi-Akplamafu JHS said lack of office complex and non-availability of electricity was a challenge for the school and appealed to the MCE for assistance.

Mr. Niiquaye Charles, Headmaster of the Gbi-Wegbe Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) JHS said a total of 15 out 20 students of the school had reported for academic activities.

Ms. Sarah Opoku, a final year student who expressed joy at reporting to school for academic activities said although the face masks were inconvenient, she had to wear it to protect herself and her colleagues.

Most schools were seen with tippy taps and veronica buckets to ensure regular hand washing of students and staff.
