Accra, May 29, GNA – The National Union of Holy Child Past Students Association (NUHOPSA) has donated GH¢ 70,000 to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund.
Mrs Ekua Asor Anyimadu-Antwi, the National President of NUHOPSA, said the donation was to support the provision of health-protective items to the front line workers.
She said it also their widow’s mite to support the government’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mrs Anyimadu-Antwi said: “these individuals are risking their lives to ensure our survival” and eulogised their dedication and sacrifices at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.
‘We are grateful to all front line health workers, for the sacrifices they make. We pray that our donation will go a long way to provide them with their basic tools to enhance their work.”
“We continue to pray for the protection and intervention of the Holy Child Jesus in the current situation”, she opined.
The Former Chief Justice and Chairperson of the COVID-19 Trust Fund, Sophia Akufo, who received the donation on behalf of the government, assured the NUHOPSA that the donation would be used for the intended purpose.
Last week, the Association extended a similar gesture to the health facilities managed by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference through the provision of *Personal Protective Equipment and other items worth GH¢ 60,000.
NUHOPSA is made up of past students from the Holy Child College, Takoradi and the Holy Child School, Cape Coast
The immediate past National President, Mrs. Doris Ashun; the President of the Tema Branch, Mrs. Clara Anumel, and Mrs. Evelyn Oye Asante and Marjwell Masopeh representatives for 1985 and 2000 year groups respectively were to grace the occasion.
The Holy Child Past Students Association (HOPSA) was formed in 1971 to foster fellowship among the past students of the Holy Child School and College by bringing them together.
It also seeks to foster good and cordial relations between the Association and similar Associations and between the Association and current students of the School and College.
