ADRA supports hospitals combatting covid-19 pandemic

Accra, May 30, GNA – The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) has donated medical supplies worth GH¢ 150, 000.00 to selected hospitals in Accra.

The items included; 500 medical overalls, 500 pieces of protective goggles, 850 facemasks, 5,000 pieces of gloves, 80 pieces of infrared thermometers and 10 medical boots, 65 gallons of hand sanitizers, 100 packs of bottled water and 1,200 boxes of soya milk.

The beneficiary hospitals included; the Ga East and Suntreso Government Hospitals, a holding centres for COVID-19 patients in Accra and Kumasi, and the Ghana Adventist Health Service.

Dr William Yaw Kpakpo, Country Director for ADRA, presenting the items, said the donation was an expression of love and appreciation to the dedicated and sacrificial work of health workers.

Pastor Kwame Kwanin Boakye, President of the Northern Ghana Union Mission, said the Adventist Church was committed to support the government and the Ghana Health Service in their fight against the virus.

He indicated that the church had earlier donated GH¢ 100,000 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund.
Dr Ebenezer Oduro-Mensah, the Medical Director for Ga East Municipal Hospital, and the Administrator for Suntreso Government Hospital, Mr Samuel Dodzi, received the items on behalf of their facilities, while Dr Paul Amo Kyeremeh, the Director for the Ghana Adventist Health Service, received on behalf of the Adventist hospitals.

Dr Oduro-Mensah said the items would go a long way to support patient care, assuring Ghanaians that the country was doing quite well in the fight and needed the support of both the government and private sector to win the battle.

Mr Dodzi said the protective gears had come at the right time as they were needed by the health workers.

ADRA’s donation was sponsored by ADRA International/Africa, Southern and Northern Ghana Unions of Adventists, Hope Channel Ghana, Valley Life Company Limited, Lan T Soya Milk Company and the Adventist Medical Stores.
