Accra, April 29, GNA – Mr. Isaac Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports (MOYS), has congratulated Professor Francis Dodoo on his appointment as the new head of Governance Commission of World Athletics last March.
World Athletics is the international body that governs athletics in the world.
A statement released by the MOYS lauded Prof. Dodoo’s progress in the World Athletics and for his exploits at the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) over the past years to date.
It said, “On behalf of the Government of Ghana and my behalf, I wish to congratulate you on your appointment as Chairman of the World Athletics Governance Commission. This is an honour not only to you but also to the nation, Ghana.
“Your contributions to international sports organizations such as the IAAF’s Inaugural Values Commission, the Commonwealth Games Federation Governance and Integrity Commission, and a former member of the World Anti-Doping Commission’s committee for athletes have rightfully brought you to your new appointment.
“I am confident that your professional experience and extensive governance expertise will help you succeed in your new position. I am confident that your tenure of office will see a remarkable development of Ghana and World Athletics. You can always count on the support of my Ministry.’
Prof. Dodoo is a former national and African triple jump champion and also a four-time Olympian.
He is also the President of the GAA.
