Lebanese companies donate to Tamale Teaching Hospital

Tamale, April 21, GNA – Lebanese Community companies in Tamale have presented personal protective equipment including food items to the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) to complement efforts at treating COVID-19 patients at the facility.

The items included 100 packs of Mineral Water, 30 gallons of hand sanitisers, 120 pieces (300 mls) of hand sanitisers, 11,800 pieces of examination gloves, four infrared thermometers, 300 pieces of face masks, and 30 boxes of biscuits.

The companies that came together to donate the items were Azar Chemical Industries Ltd, A&N Ghanem, Twellium Company Ltd, River Way Company Ltd, Atwi Brothers, and Mateen Sakeen Company.

Managers of the companies jointly handed over the items to the authorities of TTH in Tamale on Tuesday.

Mr Johnny Adam, Manager of A&N Ghanem, said the presentation was to support the efforts of the hospital in responding to the COVID-19 disease.

The country recorded her first two cases of COVID-19 on March 12, and by April 19, the number of positive cases was 1,042 with 99 recoveries and nine deaths.

The TTH, which is one of the facilities designated to treat COVID-19 patients, is currently providing medical care for 10 COVID-19 patients.

Mr Adam said “We have all been overtaken by this COVID-19 but at the same time, we have also seen the efforts the government is making to equip the numerous health facilities to handle and treat infected persons”.

Dr Abass Adam, Director, Medical Affairs at the TTH, who received the items, said TTH was impressed at the commitment of the Lebanese Community companies in Tamale towards the response against the COVID-19 by the hospital.

Dr Adam said the items had come at the right time as they would support the front line staff of the hospital to deliver quality health care to patients.
