COVID-19: Upfield Foods donates nutritious products to needy

Accra, April 16, GNA – Upfield Foods, producers of Blue Band margarine and other products has donated its nutritious ‘Blue Band’ products to vulnerable individuals and groups, through the government, during the period of restriction on movement.

According to a statement from Upfield Foods, the largest plant-based foods company in the world to the Ghana News Agency, the support was in line with the company’s objective of making people healthier and happier with nutritious and delicious, plant-based products.

The GH¢ 50,000.00 worth of products, meant for low-income earners, included 250 cases of Blue Band 10kg baking margarine, 200 cases of Blue Band 75g spread for bread and 150 cases of Blue Band original 250g margarine.

Mr Bamidele Amao, the General Manager for Upfield West Africa, said: “On behalf of Upfield, I commend the Government of Ghana under the leadership of our esteemed President, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, for the efforts being made to curb the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the safety of Ghanaians and others who have made Ghana their home.

“As a food manufacturer, Upfield recognises our heightened responsibility during this pandemic to ensure our nutritious, quality foods are consistently available to consumers. We continue to take all the necessary measures to ensure our foods are produced according to good hygienic practice standards with high quality production standards”.

He said since 1871, Upfield’s product brands had been the authority in the spreads category, giving them an unmatched experience and know-how in the production of healthy, nutritious foods.

The Company, the statement said, has more than 100 iconic brands, including Blue Band in Ghana and Flora, Rama, Proactiv, Becel, and Country Crock in other countries.

It is focused on delivering healthier products with great tasting, superior quality and a “Better Plant-based Future.

The company, headquartered in Amsterdam, sells products in over 95 countries, with 17 manufacturing sites across the world and employs over 3000 Associates.
