Zoomlion disinfects UHAS campuses, facilities

Ho, April 16, GNA – Zoomlion Ghana Limited Thursday disinfected structures of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho as part of nationwide measures towards preventing the spread of the coronavirus disease.

Eight facilities comprising lecture halls, administrative blocks, and auditoriums were disinfected at the main campus at Sokode Lokoe, and about eight others at the Ho Teaching Hospital campus.

Six facilities including hostels were disinfected at the Dave site of the University, in addition to about four other buildings situated in the Ho township.

Mr Isaac Ablormeti, Regional Vector Control Officer for Zoomlion, said a major strategy in the fight against the coronavirus was to sanitize major places of congregation, targeting surfaces, door handles, and railings among others to rid them of pathogens, microorganisms, and possible viruses.

Mr Ablormeti said the exercise was part of a broader initiative to disinfect educational facilities across the country, and would be systematically undertaken to cover all.

About a week ago, Zoomlion in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Regional Coordinating Council disinfected markets and street corners across the Region.

The Region recorded nine cases of COVID19 on Sunday April 12 necessitating the heightening of preventive measures and surveillance.

Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister, on Wednesday inspected a 40-bed COVID19 treatment and innovative centre in Ho and said the Region was set to combat the disease.
