COVID-19: Ghana’s case rises marginally to 204

Accra, April 02, GNA – Ghana on Thursday confirmed nine additional cases of COVID-19, this brings the total number to 204 as at April 02, 2020.

According to Ghana Health Service portal, which provides situational update for COVID-19, all the new cases came from the Greater Accra Region.

It said four of the patients had no history of travel nor came into contact with any of the confirmed cases.

“The other four have no travel history but are contacts of confirmed cases in Ghana; and the remaining one travelled to Ghana from Benin within the past 14 days,” it said.

Of the 204 cases, there was a death toll of five, while three have fully recovered and two in critical condition.

It said the number of regions reporting cases remained five, namely Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Upper West and Eastern.

The Greater Accra Region has recorded most cases of 183, followed by the Northern Region; 10, Ashanti Region; nine, Upper West Region; one, and Eastern Region; one.

All five deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions prior to the COVID-19 infection.

It said most reported cases were now from routine and enhanced surveillance.

It said confirmed cases from travellers under mandatory quarantine remained 89, while figures from routine surveillance had reached 115, with three recoveries, 18 discharged and under home management, 87 doing well and responding to treatment, but two in critical condition.
