Accra, March 29, GNA – The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 11 more cases of the novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19); with 10 of them being recorded at Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region.
The 11th case was recorded at Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.
This brings the national total tally to 152, with the death and recovery cases standing at five and two respectively.
The 10 patients, who are Guinean residents travelled through Burkina Faso and Togo to Ghana, were picked following intelligence reports.
They were tested under the mandatory quarantine in Tamale under the direction of the Regional Security Committee of the Northern Region.
The Ghana Health Service, which announced this update on its designated COVID-19 portal, said the remaining 145 patients were all responding to treatment.
The GHS put the recording time of the new cases at the 1030 hours.
As of 1400 hours on Saturday, March 28, a total of 2,519 persons had been tested for COVID-19 in Ghana, it said.
Among the tested, 1,276 (50.7 percent) were persons under mandatory quarantine with 1,243 (49.3 percent) from routine surveillance activities.
Amid the 2,519 persons tested, 141 tested positive representing 5.6 percent.
So far four of the 16 regions: Greater Accra, Ashanti, Upper West and Northern, have confirmed cases.

The President has announced a stay at home restriction measure for 40 Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi Metropolitan and district contagion, effective 0100 hours on Monday, March 30, as part of elevated measures to limit the spread of the respiratory disease.
Essential service providers, such as food and beverages, health and medical, fuel and other utilities are, however, exempted.
