Baffour Awuah pleads not guilty to EOCO charges, granted GH¢10m bail

Accra, Oct. 3, GNA – The Accra High Court on Saturday granted Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, GH¢10 million bail with two sureties.

This was after he pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

The charges include conspiracy to commit a crime, dissipation of public funds and intentionally causing financial loss to the state.

He also denied a money laundering charge relating to an alleged GH¢1 million transfer to the then Managing Director of SIC Life in 2024.

The charges form part of EOCO’s investigation into alleged financial transactions involving SIC Life Savings and Loans.

The bail was granted after prosecutors, led by Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem-Sai, presented the charges against the legislator before the court.

The two sureties are the Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho and the Member of Parliament for Effia.

EOCO, in collaboration with the Office of the Attorney-General, sent Nana Baffour Awuah to the weekend court following his voluntary surrender to EOCO on Thursday, October 1, to assist with investigations.
